In which I explain how I avoid conflict…
Today I had to drop some rather unpleasant news on a client. I did this in 4 easy steps:
- I called the client’s office.
- I asked the secretary to connect me with the client’s voice mail.
- I left a detailed-but-not-so-long-winded-that-I’d-get-cut-off-and-have-to-call-back-thus-risking-having-to-talk-with-the-client message containing the unpleasant news.
- I promptly left the office to go to lunch.
’Cause, apparently, that’s how I roll.
Although, technically, I’m not even sure if you can “roll” without a spine.
